Learn practical skills, connect with academics and industry speakers, and boost your uni and career prospects.
Join the Dartmouth Summer Scholars Clean Energy Technologies program to explore environmental sustainability through an interdisciplinary, action-based curriculum. Students study individual-level decarbonization using insights from climate science, engineering, economics, public policy, philosophy, and the social sciences.
The program combines classroom lectures, guest speaker sessions, and seminars to build critical understanding of environmental challenges and ethical questions around climate action. Hands-on learning is central: participants conduct lab work and produce reports, record and analyse air quality and emissions data, and collaborate in teams to design local and regional sustainability plans.
Field trips (including visits to research facilities) and practical projects culminate in a written decarbonization plan and an oral or visual presentation. The course is designed for high-achieving high school students seeking rigorous academic enrichment and portfolio-building credentials.
Residential and day formats are offered on Dartmouth's Hanover campus. International students receive visa support and optional airport shuttle arrangements; credit-bearing classes provide a grade report and instructions for requesting a university transcript (acceptance of credit depends on receiving institutions).
