A Data Analyst apprentices to learn how data can be used to answer questions and solve problems by gathering requirements, inspecting, cleansing, transforming and modelling data to discover useful information and support decision-making. The role covers data structures, systems and a range of tools used for analysis, including R, SQL and big-data tooling.
The apprenticeship is delivered as a combination of work and study: learning takes place mainly during employment with employer workplace training complemented by college-based "off the job" training. Off-the-job training is delivered online via MS Teams one day every other week during the college term.
Both on- and off-the-job elements lead to nationally recognised qualifications.
Entry requirements are set by employers; the page specifies a minimum academic entry of maths and English GCSEs at grade 4/C or above. Apprentices are assessed through an End Point Assessment (EPA) comprising a knowledge test, practical test and interview supported by a portfolio of evidence.
Possible progression includes permanent employment in data-related roles (for example Data Scientist, Business Analyst, Database Professional, Finance Analyst, Marketing Data Analyst) or further study such as the Level 6 Data Scientist Apprenticeship.
Level 4 apprenticeship (nationally recognised qualification; completion assessed via End Point Assessment with possible grades: distinction, pass or fail).
