Data Science for High Schoolers at Dartmouth is a two-week, on-campus summer programme that teaches foundations and practical skills in data science. The course covers Python for data science (including Pandas and NumPy), exploratory data analysis and visualization (Matplotlib, Seaborn), and an introduction to natural language processing.
Students work on daily hands-on exercises and complete a final project that demonstrates applied data analysis and model execution. The programme emphasises critical thinking and problem-solving, pairing lectures with real-world datasets and project-based learning.
Participants receive instructor feedback, detailed performance reports, and on completion a branded Course Completion Certificate and a Letter of Recognition. Residential (boarding) and day/commuter options are available; tuition includes academic tuition, housing for residential students, three meals per day, activities and on-site transportation for included activities.
The course is hosted on Dartmouth College's campus (part of the Dartmouth Summer Scholars/Summer Institute offerings) and includes visa support for international students. Applicants must complete the Summer Institute application with short-answer responses and meet the listed academic prerequisites (Algebra and Geometry; recommended GPA 3.
