Join BBC Studios as a Level 6 Data Scientist Apprentice and develop the practical skills and academic knowledge to launch a career in data science within a global media organisation. This full-time, fixed-term apprenticeship (36 months) places you in the Global Channels division at Television Centre, London, where you will work on real projects that turn raw data into audience insight, build predictive models, and create visualisations to inform editorial, marketing and commercial decisions.

You will combine on-the-job learning with at least one day per week of remote study toward a BSc (Hons) in Data Science with BPP University. The programme covers data infrastructure and tools, data visualisation and dashboards, data engineering, analytics, project management, machine learning and AI/deep learning.

You will receive training and mentoring from industry professionals, access to BBC Academy resources, and support from a Team Manager and Scheme Specialist.

The role is aimed at non-graduates and includes a competitive apprentice salary plus London weighting and a broad benefits package. Applicants must meet the stated eligibility checks (including residency and GCSE requirements) and be able to commute to the Television Centre location.

Successful completion of the apprenticeship will be supported with career development and employability training to help you progress within the BBC or the wider industry.

  • Be 18 years old or over by the time the apprenticeship begins in September 2026.
  • Have lived in the UK continuously for the last 3 years prior to the start of the apprenticeship.
  • Be legally eligible to work full-time in the UK for the entire duration of the apprenticeship.
  • Not currently be enrolled in another apprenticeship programme (with the BBC or another organisation).
  • Have maths and English GCSE at Grade 4/C or above or National 5 (Scotland) at C or equivalent qualification.
  • Have achieved, or be expected to achieve, by the start of the scheme a minimum of 104 UCAS points (including A Level/Higher Maths, or an extended BTEC in Engineering with Engineering Maths, or equivalent).
  • Not have completed or hold qualifications in the apprenticeship subject at the same or higher level.
  • Scheme is aimed at non-graduates (degree holders are encouraged to apply for other BBC roles).
  • You will need to live within a commutable distance of the London Television Centre location.

£22,950 per year

Pay & Benefits

£22,950 per year plus £5,441 London Weighting.
