Work in an MP’s constituency office, researching issues, drafting press releases and helping answer constituents’ queries. Depending on your age and ability, you could also support casework or accompany the MP to a meeting or event in the House or constituency.
David Mundell MP offers work experience placements for students from his constituency who want to learn more about local politics and how an MP’s office works. The placement is designed to give young people practical insight into political life while helping them build useful skills in a real workplace setting.
Students may be involved in a range of tasks, including researching an issue, taking press cuttings, writing press releases, assisting with office duties, answering constituent queries by phone or email, and, depending on age and ability, helping with casework. They may also have the chance to accompany the MP to a meeting or event in the House or in the constituency.
Interested students should contact the office to enquire about availability.
