The Davidson Institute Fellows Scholarship awards major scholarships ($100,000, $50,000 and $25,000) to exceptional students age 18 and younger who have completed a significant piece of work in categories including Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Literature, Music, Philosophy and Outside the Box. The program seeks work that experts recognize as meaningful and potentially beneficial to society; projects are expected to be at or near college-graduate level and not at the novice level.

Applicants must be U. S. citizens or permanent residents (or stationed overseas on active U.

S. military duty). Teams of two are permitted, but both members must meet eligibility and attend in-person events.

Each submission requires the category-specific materials, two nominator forms, and attachments; all materials must be typed and follow the category instructions carefully. Applicants and a parent/guardian must be available to attend an awards reception in Washington, DC in September if named a Fellow (travel and lodging for those events are provided by the Institute).

The program is offered annually. The 2026 application deadline is February 11, 2026, applicants are notified on or before July 15, and selected Fellows attend recognition events in September. The scholarship funds must be used for qualified tuition and related educational expenses and are available for ten years from award date.

  • Applicants must be 18 or younger as of the application deadline.
  • Applicants must be a U.S. citizen residing in the United States, a U.S. Permanent Resident residing in the United States, or stationed overseas due to active U.S. military duty.
  • There is no minimum age for eligibility.
  • Applicants must have completed a significant piece of work in one of the submission categories.
  • Two-person teams are allowed (teams must email DAVIDSONFELLOWS@DAVIDSONGIFTED.ORG before beginning an application; both team members must meet eligibility and attend in-person events).
  • Two nominators (not family members) are required.
  • Applicants must be able to attend the awards reception and recognition events in September in Washington, DC (travel and lodging for those events will be provided by the Institute).
  • Certain project types are not eligible (e.g., community service projects; arts categories such as photography, sculpture, film, visual arts; vocalist, dance, theater).
  • Projects involving live vertebrates are not eligible; human-subject projects require IRB paperwork as specified.
