Want to mentor while boosting your UCAS? Join Debate Chamber’s Young Doctors Summer School to run live online seminars, guide case-study diagnostics and work with small groups led by med students. Build leadership, teaching experience and real medical insight you can cite on applications.

The Young Doctors Summer School (run by Debate Chamber) is a two-day live online course introducing students to the world of medicine. Designed for curious 11-14 year olds, the course combines seminars on topics such as cardiology, the brain and lungs with practical case-study scenarios where students take the role of practitioners to diagnose and recommend treatment as part of a team.

Taught by medical students in small interactive seminar groups, the course mixes academic sessions with enjoyable activities and hands-on problem-solving. The 2026 online offering runs on 17-18 August 2026 with live teaching from 10:00-15:30 each day.

Sessions will not be recorded, so participants must be available for the scheduled hours and have a reliable audio/video internet connection.

Booking requires a 25% non-refundable deposit with the balance due eight weeks before the course. Debate Chamber offers a limited number of full and partial bursaries for students who could not otherwise afford to attend; bursary applications for Summer 2026 open in January.
