BAE Systems' Degree Apprentice Aerospace Engineer role is a five-year Engineering Degree Apprenticeship Scheme (EDAS) based in Brough. The scheme combines on-the-job placements across a cross-section of engineering branches with part-time study towards a BEng (Hons) in Aerospace Engineering and a Level 4 Diploma in Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing.
In years 4 and 5 apprentices focus on a chosen discipline such as Aerodynamics, Systems Engineering or Support Engineering.
Apprentices will develop both digital and practical skills through placements that support the design, development, build and maintenance of advanced aircraft. The role begins with training and rotational placements across engineering areas, followed by specialist study and project work in later years.
Note that apprentices must not book annual leave within the first three months and subsequent leave is subject to training schedules and line manager approval.
The role offers a starting salary of £23,748 with annual progression, plus pension, employee share plans and a range of health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits. Applicants should be aware that many roles are subject to security and export control restrictions; baseline security clearance is required and some roles may require higher levels of national security vetting which can affect eligibility.
