Join Siemens Mobility as a Degree Apprentice in Power Conversion (Level 6) based in York. This paid apprenticeship (starting salary £20,000 plus annual bonus) runs for three years plus an End Point Assessment and combines on-the-job work with block-release training.
You will work on outline and detailed design of railway electrification systems, undertake site surveys, liaise with other disciplines and clients, and gain hands-on experience in installation, testing and commissioning of electrical equipment.
While following the ST0496 Rail & Rail Systems Senior Engineer apprenticeship standard, you will work on real projects that support decarbonisation of UK rail systems. The role includes using electrical CAD software, developing wiring and mechanical installation designs, improving software and networking skills, and compiling evidence towards professional registration such as EngTech.
Apprentices may spend periods in college (block release) as part of their training.
The programme is aimed at candidates with relevant level 3 qualifications (A-levels/BTEC/Access to HE equivalents) including mathematics and physical sciences, and requires five GCSEs including Maths and English.
