See how dental technologists make customised devices, from orthodontic appliances and dentures to facial prosthetics. You may observe or take part in model casting, acrylic resin processing, welding and soldering, and could also spend time in a clinical environment.

This Dental Technology placement gives students the chance to learn about orthodontic and maxillofacial aspects of dental technology. The department makes customised medical devices, including orthodontic appliances, dentures, facial prosthetics and facial fracture rehabilitation.

You may also observe or take part in practical processes such as model casting, use of a model grinder, acrylic resin processing, acrylic resin trimming, welding and soldering. The placement may also include time in a clinical environment, offering a broader view of how dental technology supports patient care.
