Use bark patterns, twig shapes and other winter clues to identify trees without their leaves in a hands-on outdoor workshop. Build confidence spotting differences between species with guidance from an experienced guide, and warm up with provided hot drinks.

Join Derbyshire Wildlife Trust for a beginner-friendly winter workshop focused on recognising trees when they have lost their leaves. Participants will learn practical identification skills using features such as bark patterns, twig shapes and other visible clues that remain useful throughout the colder months.

This is a hands-on, in-person session designed for adults and anyone new to tree identification. It offers a relaxed way to build confidence in noticing the differences between tree species and to deepen your appreciation of the natural world in winter.

Please dress for the weather and wear suitable outdoor footwear. Hot drinks will be provided, making it a comfortable and engaging way to spend part of the day outdoors and learning from an experienced guide.
