Want a taste of uni life? Join Discover Bath — a free residential summer school where you’ll study real lectures, build study and UCAS skills, connect with peers and academics, and boost your uni prospects while living on campus.
Discover Bath is a free, fully subsidised summer residential programme run by the University of Bath for Year 12 (or equivalent) students from widening participation backgrounds. The programme gives prospective students a taste of first-year life and study through academic sessions (lectures, seminars and workshops), social activities and time in undergraduate accommodation.
Participants receive support on personal statements, UCAS, student finance and study skills, and may be considered for contextual admissions and a guaranteed conditional offer if eligible. Discover Bath runs subject-specific strands (Engineering, Science, Social Sciences, Business & Management, etc.
) with subject taster sessions delivered by University lecturers, researchers and current students. Sessions typically run over a 2-night residential (3 days), include campus accommodation and meals, and aim to develop academic skills, independent study and peer networks.
Travel reimbursement is available for reasonable UK travel. Applications for the 2026 programme are open via the online application form. The programme is available only to students who meet the University’s widening participation criteria and specific strand eligibility (for example, required A-level subjects for some science and engineering strands).
