Fancy directing your first short film? Join Dukes Plus Film Summer School in London to learn scriptwriting, cinematography, sound and editing from industry pros, use pro kit, build a showreel and boost your uni or career prospects.

The Dukes Plus Film Summer School (Young TV & Filmmaker Summer Experience) is an immersive 1-2 week programme in London for students aged 15-18. Delivered on the campus of University College London and run by Dukes Plus in partnership with InvestIN, the course offers hands-on training in scriptwriting, directing, cinematography, sound design, editing and production management.

Participants learn from industry professionals, use industry-standard equipment, and complete group and individual film projects.

Students write, direct and film original scenes in small groups, then edit and showcase their finished work at an exclusive film festival where industry professionals provide feedback. The programme includes site visits to professional film studios in London, networking opportunities with practitioners, and mentorship aimed at supporting applications to film school or university.

A UCAS-accredited option is available so participants can earn UCAS points to strengthen university applications.

No prior experience is required; the course suits beginners and those wishing to deepen existing skills. Accommodation, meals and pastoral care are available for residential attendees, and the programme runs across multiple summer start dates at UCL and other Dukes Plus campuses.
