Spend four intensive days gaining hands-on experience across Lancaster’s arts, cultural and heritage organisations. Get an inside look at creative careers through practical sector sessions, plus a freelancing masterclass and a creative careers Q&A.
The Dukes Work Experience Week is a dedicated four-day intensive for local young people who want to gain hands-on insight into the arts. After the success of its first run in 2026, it returns in 2027 in partnership with Lancaster Grand and Escape2Make.
Participants will get valuable on-the-ground and in-depth work experience across a range of arts, cultural and heritage organisations in Lancaster. The week is designed to give an inside look at creative careers, with sessions that are practical, informative and rooted in real sector experience.
The programme also includes opportunities to hear from professionals through a masterclass in freelancing and a creative careers Q&A. In the previous year, students supported The Box community project and took part in sessions hosted by the partner organisations, making it a varied and immersive introduction to working in the creative industries.
