Join Head Start On The Hill as an Early Years Apprentice and train towards a Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification while working in an award-winning nursery. Most of your time will be on the job supporting children’s learning, play and development; you will also receive scheduled off-the-job training delivered by the training provider Realise Learning and Employment Limited.

Duties include promoting positive relationships, supporting health, safety and wellbeing, contributing to children’s development and play, supporting key persons with responsibilities for groups of children, and following safeguarding procedures. The role is full-time (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with shifts to be agreed at offer stage) and is based at St Mary's Hill (CH1 2DW), Chester.

The apprenticeship starts on 1 December 2025, runs for 1 year 2 months, and offers a first-year wage of £15,704. Successful completion may lead to a full-time qualified position. Applicants must hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in maths and English at grade 4 and will require a DBS check after offer.

Qualification Outcome

Early years educator (level 3) — Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Educator (with associated Level 3 paediatric first aid and Level 2 functional skills if required)

Pay & Benefits

£15,704 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age. National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices. Additional benefits noted include an apprentice completion bonus, uniform, private healthcare, gym membership and 60% staff discount for staff children.
