Curious how your art could become a career? Join interactive talks with contemporary artists and designers to explore photography, portrait painting, fashion and textiles, build creative skills, expand your portfolio and connect with industry insight to boost your next steps.

Art and Design in Action is a study day for students interested in creative subjects, bringing together a series of talks and interactive sessions with established contemporary artists and designers. The event is designed for students studying art and design at school or college, including A-level, IB, Foundation, GCSE and BTEC Level 3 pathways.

Across the day, participants hear from speakers working in different creative fields, including photography, portrait painting, fashion design and textiles, fine art, and drawing. The sessions explore how each artist develops ideas, what inspires their work, the processes they use, and how they build a career in the arts.

Students also have opportunities to ask questions and learn directly from professionals. The day combines inspiration with practical insight, helping students understand how ideas develop into finished creative work.

It is intended to widen students’ understanding of the art world, encourage original thinking, and support their own creative development.
