Engineering and Science at University College London is a two-week pre-college summer academy for 15-18-year-olds delivered on UCL's Bloomsbury campus. The programme combines academic lessons, hands-on projects and creative problem-solving across core engineering and science topics including mechanics, materials science, thermodynamics, electrical engineering, robotics and automation.
Industry visits, guest lectures and interactive workshops give participants exposure to real-world engineering applications, renewable energy, product development and immersive technologies. By the end of the course students gain practical experience through capstone projects and a grounding in engineering fundamentals.
The programme includes 60 hours of academic input, 14 nights/15 days full board accommodation for boarding participants (single ensuite rooms), two company visits, two university visits, two full-day excursions (e. g.
, Oxford/Cambridge or Brighton), and other enrichment activities. Sessions run in July and August (multiple two-week cohorts in 2026) with both day and boarding pricing options. Airport transfers are not included (£150 each way).
Class size is limited to 12 students per class and personalised mentoring and student welfare support are provided. Minimum English required: B2+.
