Work in small groups with one-to-one tuition to build independent research skills and produce a personal project, then receive a certificate of achievement on completion.
This two-week Engineering Summer School at the University of Cambridge gives 13-18 year olds a practical introduction to engineering topics and university-style study. Students work through core engineering concepts such as dimensional analysis and Reynolds number, and use tools like MATLAB to model and solve problems.
The programme combines in-depth academic sessions, hands-on laboratory and project work, and a personal research project supported by specialist tutors.
Classes are small (approximately seven students per tutor) and include one-to-one tuition to build subject knowledge and independent research skills. Students produce a personal project with mentor support and receive a certificate of achievement on completion.
An optional UCAS-points add-on is available for eligible students.
Participants stay on Cambridge college campuses with accommodation, meals and extracurricular activities included as part of the course package. The programme is suitable for motivated students exploring engineering before further study or university application.
