Submit an original STEM project as a written entry, short video or both, solo or in a team. Finalists face judging by video call; selected entrants may showcase their work at The Big Bang Fair.
The Big Bang Competition is a UK-wide STEM competition for young people to submit an original project or investigation. It is open to students aged 11 to 18 in state-funded secondary education, home educated young people, or members of community groups, and entries can be made individually or as part of a team.
Entrants present their project as a written entry, a short video, or both, and may include supporting materials such as photos, illustrations, graphs or tables. The competition also asks students to think carefully about ethics, and any use of artificial intelligence must be acknowledged and explained.
Projects must still be the competitors' own work.
Projects are judged in age categories and streams, with finalists invited to further judging by video call. Select finalists may also be invited to showcase their work at The Big Bang Fair, and winners, runners-up and special award recipients are announced at the awards ceremony.
