Move between Education, Library, Marketing and Operations during a one- or two-week placement, seeing how an arts and cultural organisation runs its venue and activities.

English Folk Dance and Song Society offers a small number of work experience placements each year for young people who are interested in learning how an arts and cultural organisation works. The placements are aimed at students aged 14 to 18, in School Years 10 to 13, and there is also a route for disabled young people up to the age of 24.

Placements usually last one or two weeks and are offered in the summer. Participants typically spend time with different teams across the organisation, including Education, Library, Marketing and Operations, so they can get a broad view of how the venue and its activities are run.

Interest is high, so priority is given to young people with an active interest in folk, especially those from across England and the wider UK; to young people who live or study in Camden and are interested in arts or heritage; and to disabled young people. Applications are made using the downloadable form and sent by email to the education team.

You may also be asked to arrange a reference letter from your school, college or parent/guardian if a place is offered.
