English Pathways at Dukes Cambridge Summer School is an in-person academic English programme for students aged 14-17 who want to strengthen their communication skills and confidence in English. The course focuses on reading, writing, speaking and listening in realistic academic and everyday contexts and prepares students for further study in English-speaking environments.
Teaching comprises 20 hours of subject-specific academic content per week delivered through interactive seminars, practical workshops and collaborative group projects. Students practise academic writing, presentation techniques, debates, role-plays and fieldwork in the Cambridge environment.
The programme emphasises fluency, accuracy and academic skills such as essay structure, note-taking and argument development.
Students complete either 2-week or 4-week sessions with a Time to Shine project and end-of-week presentations. Participants receive a Certificate of Achievement and may request a personalised Letter of Reference.
Locations for the programme include Cardiff Sixth Form College, St Andrew’s Cambridge and Sancton Wood School in Cambridge.
