Bucksmore's Environmental Science & Sustainability Summer Course is a two-week pre-university residential programme held at St Catharine's College, University of Cambridge. Designed for students aged 15 to 17, the course teaches at an advanced pre-university / first-year undergraduate level and runs approximately 23 contact hours per week with small class sizes (typical class size: 8).
The programme includes lectures, tutorials, practical fieldwork, data analysis and masterclasses aimed at preparing students for competitive higher education in environmental science and related disciplines. Students take part in academic workshops, guest lectures, small-group tutorials and applied projects covering earth system science, climate change, ecological economics, sustainable development, GIS and field research.
The course includes 2 full-day and 1 half-day excursion per week, on-campus residential accommodation, three meals per day, activity fees, insurance and (where applicable) UK airport transfers. Applicants complete an online application (student and guardian details required) and pay a £500 reservation fee to secure a place.
