Rectory Farm is recruiting a Level 2 Equine Groom apprentice for a 1-year, work-based apprenticeship starting 1 December 2025. The role is based at Rectory Farm, Duntisbourne Abbotts, Cirencester (GL7 7JW).

Day-to-day duties include all aspects of horse care such as grooming, mucking out, trimming and clipping, plaiting, lungeing and riding, health care, feeding, assisting with events, and customer care. The apprenticeship includes regular off-the-job training through Sheldrake Training Limited leading to the Level 2 Equine Groom qualification (equivalent to GCSE).

The apprenticeship offers a first-year wage of £15,704 (may increase depending on age) and is typically 40 hours per week with some weekend working possible. Apprentices will spend at least 20% of their working hours on training or studying, and may undertake functional skills in English and maths if required.

Candidates should have (or be working towards) GCSEs in Maths and English (grade C/4 or above) and be prepared for outdoor work, manual tasks, and potentially living on-site. There is scope to choose a riding or non-riding pathway, and successful candidates may progress to a Level 3 Senior Equine Groom apprenticeship in the future.
