Fancy turning ideas into a book series in Oxford? Join a two-week on-campus summer school to build storytelling, character and world-building skills with expert Oxbridge tutors, tackle a four-hour Book Series Challenge, and connect with fellow writers while exploring the city.

The Experience Creative Writing Academy is a two-week, on-campus summer school in Oxford for 15-18 year olds that focuses on developing storytelling, character development, world-building and dialogue. Students are taught by expert tutors (typically from Oxford and Cambridge) and take part in daily classes, masterclasses and a four-hour Book Series Challenge where they collaborate to create an original book-series concept.

Beyond academic sessions, the programme includes cultural excursions, social and sporting activities and an Ambassador Programme pathway. Class sizes are small (maximum 15 students), which enables personalised feedback, peer review and the opportunity to receive a Letter of Recommendation from tutors.

Successful completers receive an Oxford Scholastica Academy Certificate of Achievement.

The course is delivered on the Oxford University campus and is designed to give students a taste of university life while strengthening writing skills and university applications. Applicants are required to submit a personal statement, meet the stated English language level, and pay a deposit to secure their place.
