Want a head start on studying law at Oxford? Join the fully funded two-day ExpLaw Summer School to explore tutorials and lectures, build LNAT and application skills, tour colleges and connect with faculty and peers.
ExpLaw is a fully funded, two-day residential summer school run by the University of Oxford Faculty of Law and supported by Freshfields. Designed to give Year 12 students an immersive introduction to studying law and to life at Oxford, the programme includes academic taster sessions, lectures, and tutorials led by faculty members, plus college tours and evening social activities.
The programme also offers sessions on applying to study law, including admissions guidance and LNAT preparation. The final day is led by Freshfields and features presentations from their Graduate Recruitment team alongside interactive sessions with trainee lawyers, negotiation exercises and study skills workshops.
ExpLaw prioritises state school students with strong GCSE results (grades 6-9) from backgrounds underrepresented at Oxford and other highly selective universities. Selected participants receive free accommodation (single room), all meals, and access to a travel bursary; students travelling more than four hours are offered an additional night's accommodation.
Applications close on 22 May 2026 and applicants should apply via the Microsoft Form linked on the Faculty of Law webpage.
