The Faculty of Art & Design at Dukes Cambridge is a two-week, pre-university summer school that combines hands-on studio practice with art history and critical discussion. Students explore drawing, painting, sculpture and digital media through guided workshops, practical projects and group critiques designed to develop technical skills and individual creative voice.
Participants take part in collaborative design studio projects and fieldwork around Cambridge, culminating in a gallery-style final showcase where group installations are exhibited. The course includes dedicated academic coaching to support portfolio development and personal statement preparation, alongside sessions aimed at strengthening English language confidence for presenting and discussing artistic ideas.
Teaching blends interactive seminars, one-to-one feedback and project-based learning to help students connect artistic theory with practice. By the end of the programme students gain practical experience, greater creative confidence and a certificate recognising their achievement.
