The Faculty of Art & Design at Summer Boarding Courses (Cambridge) is an in-person summer programme for students aged 14-17 that introduces creative practice at university level. Over intensive studio sessions and practical workshops you will experiment with drawing, painting, sculpture and digital tools, develop visual ideas and collaborate on a group installation project that forms part of the final showcase.
Learning combines hands-on practice with critical discussion of theory and history, including group critiques and tutor-led feedback. The course includes fieldwork in the city, dedicated academic coaching (including UCAS/personal statement support), English language development sessions, and opportunities to present work in the Time to Shine ceremony.
Specialist materials are provided and students receive a Certificate of Achievement; a personalised letter of reference can be requested. Sessions run at Cambridge venues (St Andrew’s Cambridge, Sancton Wood School) and at Cardiff Sixth Form College.
Multiple 2- and 4-week start dates are offered in summer 2026, with both residential and non-residential options and language support included.
