This apprenticeship places you on the job caring for birds of prey and supporting the team with humane bird control for commercial and domestic clients. Day-to-day duties include feeding and handling birds of prey, weight management, and maintaining cleanliness of bird housing.
You will learn practical animal welfare skills through hands-on workplace experience.
Training is delivered by Myerscough College towards the Level 2 Animal Care & Welfare Assistant apprenticeship. Delivery is work-based with blended learning and an expectation that 20% of the working week is off-the-job training.
The end point assessment includes a practical assessment with questions and a professional discussion supported by a portfolio. The apprenticeship duration is 1 year 6 months and the start date is Sunday 16 November 2025.
The role is based at Rimmer House Farm, Bankhead Lane, Preston (PR5 6YR). Hours are typically 37 hours 30 minutes per week with flexible hours Monday-Friday and the occasional Saturday, and a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
