Build a playable game demo using Unity in hands-on workshops at Falmouth’s Games Academy. Explore asset creation, level design and scripting, then discover how game teams work and where your strengths could fit in the industry. Leave with your demo and a certificate.

This two-day short course introduces creative and technical 14 to 17 year olds to game development using the Unity Game Engine. Based in Falmouth University’s Games Academy at Penryn Campus, it is designed for students who want a hands-on introduction to how games are made and what careers and skills are involved in the games industry.

Across the course, participants explore the game production process, the roles found in a development team, and the technologies used to create games. They get practical experience with Unity, working on asset creation, level design, and scripting as they build a small playable demo.

The course also gives insight into the commercial games market and how individual strengths might fit into the industry.

Teaching is delivered through interactive workshops with experienced Falmouth University staff, with supervision throughout the day including breaks. The course is structured to be supportive and engaging, and participants leave with a playable game demo, refreshments and lunch included, and a certificate of completion.
