Closes 24 May 2027

Screenwriting Fundamentals is an eight-week online short course from Falmouth University that guides participants through the process of creating a complete short screenplay. The course focuses on the core principles of screen storytelling, including character creation, narrative structure, scene construction, dialogue, pacing and rewriting.

Learners work through weekly online materials at their own pace, with live webinars and tutor support throughout the course. There is also a feedback process built into the programme, giving participants the opportunity to submit work for review partway through the course and again at the end.

The course is designed to help students shape an initial idea into a polished draft.

It is suitable for beginners as well as more experienced writers who want a structured refresher. By the end of the course, participants will have developed a screenplay outline, a complete draft and a practical toolkit they can use on future projects.

The course is fully online and intended for adult learners.
