This is a three-week summer course in fashion design delivered as part of the Summer Institute at UCLA aimed at high-school-aged students (ages 14-18). The programme covers fundamentals of fashion design including sketching, technical flats, draping, muslin prototyping and garment construction.
Students take part in hands-on projects and are supported to produce portfolio work demonstrating their skills.
The course runs on the UCLA campus in Los Angeles with both residential (boarding) and day options. Sessions listed for 2026 include a June session (28 June-17 July 2026) and a July session (19 July-7 August 2026).
International students receive visa support, airport transportation assistance options, and international medical/health insurance where applicable; an international registration fee applies for non-U. S.
residents.
Participants receive instructor feedback, detailed performance summaries, and a course completion certificate and letter of recognition. The programme emphasises small interactive classes, hands-on learning, and access to campus facilities; no prior experience is required and applicants join by completing the Summer Institute application.

International registration fee for U.S. programs: $379 (residential) or $239 (commuter).
