Summer of Design is a 6-week online course for budding graphic designers, created by Faye Brown. It introduces young people to the basics of graphic design through seven themed modules covering ideas and inspiration, typography, colour palettes, logo design, composition, and AI in design.
Each module includes a project video and a mini masterclass, with activities that learners can choose to complete over the summer. The course is designed to be creative, practical, and easy to follow, with videos that are short enough to fit around other holiday plans.
Participants also get three bonus videos, plus downloadable PDF resources linked to the course content, including a typography guide and colour swatches. It is aimed at young people aged 10 to 17, although adults also took part previously, and is a good fit for anyone curious about visual communication and graphic design.
