Want an Oxford-style maths experience? Join Balliol’s year-long Fibonacci programme: weekly virtual seminars, an Oxford admissions talk and a two-night residential. Build advanced maths skills, connect with tutors and boost your competitive university applications.

Fibonacci is Balliol College’s year-long access programme for Year 12 UK state school students who are interested in Mathematics and highly maths-focused university courses. It is designed for academically able students who want an Oxford-style experience and who are considering competitive university applications in the future.

The programme combines a series of virtual academic seminars, held on Monday evenings from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with an Oxford admissions talk and a two-night residential stay in Oxford in August. Students are expected to prepare for each session, complete assigned work in advance, and arrive ready to take part in an Oxford-style tutorial experience.

Fibonacci is free of charge, and travel support is available for the residential trip for participants from households in IMD Decile 1 or 2. The programme is selective and asks applicants to be able to commit fully to all seminars and events.
