Fitzwilliam College Year 12 Visit Days are in-person events for prospective Year 12 students from state-maintained schools. Participants meet current students and attend workshops led by Fitzwilliam staff that provide information about the University of Cambridge and the Cambridge application process.
The sessions are designed to help attendees develop key skills needed for a strong application and include a sample itinerary of college activities. Students may apply as individuals or via their school (a member of staff should coordinate school applications).
Schools may bring up to 15 students, and priority is given to schools attending their first 2025/2026 visit day. Places will be prioritised for applicants and schools meeting widening participation criteria (including those from the college's Link Areas, students eligible for Free School Meals, care-experienced students, asylum seekers/refugees, students with caring responsibilities, those from high-deprivation areas, and students attending low-performing schools).
Sessions run at Fitzwilliam College in Cambridge between 04 November 2025 and 18 June 2026 from 09:45 to 14:15 on visit days. Interested applicants are directed to apply using the online application form; further logistical details (travel, accommodation) are not specified on the page.

Location
- For students attending state-maintained schools who are in their penultimate year of secondary education (Year 12).
- Priority given to schools in Link Areas: Hammersmith and Fulham, Cheshire, and Cumbria.
- Schools may apply to bring up to 15 students to any visit day.
- Priority for schools attending their first 2025/2026 visit day over those who have already attended another day during the year.
- Priority for individual applicants who are care experienced.
- Priority for individual applicants who have been eligible for Free School Meals at any point in the last six years.
- Priority for applicants who are, or have been, an asylum seeker or refugee.
- Priority for applicants with significant caring responsibilities.
- Priority for applicants who are estranged from close family members.
- Priority for applicants who live in a Link Area (Cheshire, Cumbria, Hammersmith and Fulham).
- Priority for applicants who live in an area of high deprivation (IMD).
- Priority for applicants who attend a low-performing sixth form.
- Priority for applicants who attend/attended a low-performing GCSE school.
- Priority for applicants from under-represented ethnic groups listed on the page (e.g., Black African and Black Caribbean; Mixed White and Black African and Black Caribbean; Pakistani and Bangladeshi; Gypsy, Roma and Traveller).
- Priority for applicants from any background or region of the UK which is under-represented at the University of Cambridge.
- Priority for applicants who have had personal circumstances that disrupted their education.
