University of East London
Apply NowFlete East London is a Sport England-funded talent identification and development programme delivered through the University of East London and East London Sport. The programme seeks to diversify the regional and national talent pool by offering an inclusive, whole-person approach that supports local athletes to achieve sporting excellence alongside broader personal development.
It provides structured support across multiple tiers and works with local coaches and organisations to create pathways into elite talent structures. The programme supports athletes aged 11-18 and operates a tiered system (Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3).
Tier 1 offers strength & conditioning, experience days, workshops (nutrition, lifestyle, time management), testing and 1:1 consultations. Tier 2 adds personalised sport-specific conditioning, additional workshops (anti-doping, sport psychology, personal branding), and compulsory six-week athletic testing.
Tier 3 supports national/international athletes with potential competition travel support, SportsDock arena access and mentoring opportunities for lower-tier athletes. Enrolment involves attending an Athlete Taster Day, registration on the Talent Pathway, allocation to a tier, pre-enrolment induction and formal enrolment.
Intakes occur in April and September. The page notes the next application review period referenced April 2025; interested athletes, coaches and organisations are invited to register interest via the online application form or contact the team for more information.
