Young Reporters for the Environment (YRE) is a global youth-led programme run by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). It invites young people to investigate local environmental issues, research possible solutions, and share their findings through writing, photography, podcasting, or video.
The programme is designed to help participants build confidence, communication skills, and environmental awareness while giving them a platform to make their voices heard. The programme can be accessed in different ways depending on your country.
If YRE already has a National Operator where you live, young people, educators, and schools can connect through that route to join activities, access resources, and take part in the annual international competition. Schools may also be able to participate through UNESCO Associated Schools Network links or the FEE International Schools programme, which includes an annual registration period and a participation fee.
FEE also supports organisations that want to bring YRE to their country. They can work with an existing National Operator, explore FEE membership, or start by using the YRE Four Steps methodology, FEE Academy resources, and international project opportunities before formally joining the network.
