Prize: Opportunity to apply for a £2,000 start-up grant

Step Into Business is an EY Foundation programme that supports young people who want to turn a business idea into reality. It begins with a one-day interactive workshop that guides participants through the steps involved in setting up a new business, helping them build practical knowledge and confidence around starting up.

After the workshop, participants with a business idea can request one-to-one business coaching for up to six months to help develop their plans further. They can also apply for a £2,000 start-up grant from EY Foundation if their business is in line with the organisation’s ethical policy or is a new social enterprise.

The programme is aimed at young people aged 16 to 19 who are eligible for Free School Meals, a college bursary or Education Maintenance Allowance, and who live in one of the listed UK cities. It is designed for applicants who already have a business idea, or who are seriously interested in starting one, and who want support to build skills, confidence and networks for the future.
