friLingue offers volunteer placements in summer language camps across Switzerland (Estavayer, Schwarzsee, Braunwald, St. Bernard). There are two main options: a Combined offer (volunteering plus 15 hours/20 lessons of language classes per week) and Full-time volunteering.
The Combined option has a minimum age of 17 and costs 750 CHF per week (includes accommodation, full board, excursions and lessons). The Full-time volunteering option has a minimum age of 18 and provides accommodation, full board and activities in exchange for volunteering time.
Typical volunteer tasks include assisting in kitchens, housekeeping, accompanying excursions, supervising children during activities such as swimming, and supporting evening programmes. Work typically amounts to a few hours per day (Combined: ~2-4 hours/day; Full-time: ~4-6 hours/day, split into short shifts) with plenty of free time.
Volunteers usually arrive on Saturdays and depart Sunday afternoons/evenings. Longer stays (several weeks) are preferred and there may be opportunities to run workshops or progress to teacher/camp leader roles if the fit is good.
Location
- Minimum age 17 for the Combined offer (Volunteering + 15 hours of language lessons).
- Minimum age 18 for Full-time volunteering.
- Preferred candidates who can stay for several weeks (one, two, or more weeks possible).
- Willingness to work with children and teenagers and perform tasks such as cooking, dishwashing, tidying, accompanying excursions, supervising swimming, and running evening activities.
- Volunteers typically arrive on Saturdays and leave on Sunday afternoons or evenings.
Combined offer: includes 15 hours (20 lessons) of language classes per week, accommodation, full board, excursions, evening activities and lessons (750 CHF/week option). Full-time volunteering: accommodation, full board, excursions and activity programmes provided; no monetary pay.
Two options: (1) Combined Volunteering + 15 hours of lessons - 750 CHF per week (includes accommodation, full board, excursions, evening activities, and lessons). (2) Full-time volunteering - no fee; accommodation, full board and some excursions included (no expenses during stay).
