Know a 12-16-year-old who loves science? Recommend Future Scientists at Headington - a two-week, in-person STEM summer school with hands-on labs, collaborative ‘Time to Shine’ projects and weekly presentations to build practical skills, critical thinking and uni/career-ready experience.

Future Scientists at Headington Oxford is a two-week, in-person STEM summer school for students aged 12-16. Participants take part in 15 hours of academic science each week, with interactive and practical lessons that cover biology, chemistry and physics.

The course emphasises exploration, experimentation and critical thinking through hands-on lab work.

Students work in collaborative 'Time to Shine' group projects to apply their learning, culminating in end-of-week presentations. The programme also includes excursions (examples listed: Thorpe Park, London, Oxford) and a varied social programme with sports, arts, specialist sessions and evening activities to build teamwork and confidence.

Modules cover life and living systems, matter/reactions/energy, and earth/space/frontiers. On completion students receive a personalised end-of-course report and a Certificate of Achievement. A recommended English level of B1 is noted so students can fully engage with lessons and presentations.
