Start a practical career in farming with Duchy College’s Level 2 General Farm Worker Apprenticeship - learn machinery, animal and crop care, and safety while working one day a week with industry employment.

The General Farm Worker Level 2 Apprenticeship at Duchy College trains apprentices to support daily operations across farm enterprises, with a focus on health and safety, biosecurity, animal and crop health, machinery maintenance and basic record keeping. Apprentices will learn practical skills such as tractor and machinery use, arable practices, nutrition, animal handling and welfare, and environmental and conservation tasks.

Apprentices follow a core-plus-option approach and will choose the option most relevant to their role (Livestock Worker or Crop Worker). The programme is workplace-centred with one college day per week and requires suitable paid employment in the industry.

Assessment includes an End Point Assessment comprising multiple choice, a professional discussion and practical assessment.

Locations are Duchy College Rosewarne (near Camborne) and Duchy College Stoke Climsland. Entry requirements include GCSEs in English and Maths at grade 3/D or above (or equivalent) unless exempt, a character reference from school, and the appropriate driving licence where needed.

Prospective applicants are directed to the course brochure and the college's How to Apply information for next steps.
