Explore clinical, nursing, radiology, physiotherapy, administration and finance departments during a hospital placement lasting up to five days. Before a face-to-face placement, you’ll need to complete virtual work experience and attend an event; some departments are for applicants aged 18 and over.
Work Experience at George Eliot Hospital gives students the chance to learn more about the wide range of careers available in the NHS and to gain first-hand experience of a health sector workplace. It is designed to help young people make informed career choices, whether they are at college, preparing for university or looking for experience before entering employment.
Placements are unpaid and last a maximum of 5 days, with hours varying between 09:00 and 16:00 depending on what the department can offer. Students can experience different hospital areas, including clinical, nursing, radiology, physiotherapy, administration, finance, human resources and more.
The programme also introduces workplace behaviours such as communication, punctuality and treating people with respect.
The hospital states that opportunities are available throughout the year, but applicants must be based in North Warwickshire and must complete a virtual work experience programme and attend an event before a face-to-face placement can be arranged. Students in Year 12 and above apply directly to the work experience team; placements for Years 10 and 11 are organised through the school.
Some departments, such as maternity and theatres, are restricted to applicants aged 18 and over.
Unpaid.
