Georgetown University's online pre-college course "Journalism and Media in the Digital Age" introduces how stories are discovered, reported, verified, and crafted across digital, social, and broadcast platforms. Taught by Georgetown faculty and experienced journalists, the program combines lessons on reporting, ethics, law, and multimedia storytelling with practical exercises in interviewing, research, and story structuring.
Courses are offered in two formats: a credit-bearing college course (128 hours, letter grade, transcripted credit) and shorter enrichment modules (1, 2, or 4 weeks, 20-30 hours) that culminate in a final capstone project. Both formats provide instructional support, mentorship, and a professional-style final project intended to demonstrate readiness for journalism, media production, or related communications roles.
The program is delivered fully online with flexible scheduling. Applicants must be 18 or older. Need-based scholarships are available for qualifying students.
Prospective participants can apply online and choose the format that best fits their academic or career goals.
