Want to boost your CV and pick up German fast? Join the GIMAGINE Award: complete a 20-module German course plus five Global Learning modules, earn a Goethe-Institut certificate and build language skills and future-ready competencies for uni or work.

The GIMAGINE Award is a digital learning programme from the Goethe-Institut UK designed to give young learners their first German language skills and wider future competencies. The programme is offered in two tiers: 'German Starter' for beginners and 'German Booster' for learners with prior German knowledge.

To complete the Award and qualify for the certificate, learners must finish one full German course (20 modules) and choose 5 out of 19 available Global Learning modules, typically taking up to 25 hours in total.

The programme is aimed at individual students and at teachers or youth centre leaders who want to register and manage classroom groups. When a teacher or youth centre leader signs up with a group, learners are linked to the leader's account so progress can be monitored.

The Friends of the Goethe-Institut UK act as an Approved Activity Provider for the Duke of Edinburghs Award and can assess DofE participants and upload assessment reports directly to eDofE.

Participants can expect gamified learning, competitions, live events and other activities as part of the Gimagine programme. Sign-up options include individual licences and tiered group licences; a free trial licence is available for educators to review the platform before purchase.
