Queen Mary University of London
Apply NowGirls Into Physics is a free, three-day non-residential summer school run by the School of Physical and Chemical Sciences at Queen Mary University of London aimed at budding physicists in Year 10. The programme combines university-style taster lectures, hands-on laboratory practicals and activities in the university astronomical observatory to give participants a taste of physics at university level.
Participants will meet and speak with current female physics students about their journeys and study experiences, join external workshops on the range of careers physics can lead to, and take part in sessions designed to tackle gender stereotyping in STEM. Group poster work and presentations are part of the programme, with poster prizes awarded to the best entries.
The programme is non-residential and designed to empower girls interested in physics by building confidence, demonstrating practical and theoretical aspects of the subject, and providing information about next steps in study and careers. For questions contact eliza.hunt@qmul.ac.uk.
