Apply NowWant to build real aircraft while earning a degree and getting paid? Join GKN Aerospace’s Degree Apprenticeship: study at Weston College, train on-site in Bristol, rotate through specialist teams and gain hands-on engineering skills that fast-track your university and career.
GKN Aerospace’s Aerospace Engineering Degree Apprenticeship is a paid programme that combines university study with on-the-job engineering experience. Starting in September 2026 at the Global Technology Centre in Bristol, apprentices spend their first year at Weston College working towards a Level 2 qualification before moving on-site in Bristol from Year 2 to progress through Level 4 and ultimately a Level 6 degree in Aerospace Engineering.
You will rotate through specialist teams (Airframe, Design & Stress, Systems Integration, Quality, Support Engineering, and Advanced Manufacturing) and be involved across the full lifecycle of aerospace systems.
The role focuses on practical engineering skill development: reading and interpreting drawings and models, planning, testing, inspection, production, and lifecycle management, alongside engineering mathematics and regulatory/quality standards. The programme also includes mentorship, access to industry training, and opportunities to contribute to STEM outreach and community projects.
Support is offered with sourcing student accommodation in the first year where required, and there is a pathway to a permanent role on successful completion.
The selection process is designed to be supportive and includes an online application form with pre-screening questions, an online assessment for eligible candidates, a virtual interview, and an Assessment Centre at the Global Technology Centre in Bristol where applicants can demonstrate their skills and potential.
Level 6 degree in Aerospace Engineering (progressing through Level 2 in year 1 and Level 4 before achieving Level 6).
