The Global Campus of Human Rights Summer School in Cinema, Human Rights and Advocacy is a 10-day in-person training that combines video advocacy, digital media and film with human and environmental rights issues, set in the context of the Venice International Film Festival. Participants attend screenings, meet film industry professionals and leading human rights experts, and engage in lectures, workshops, working groups and one-to-one tutorials.
The programme is designed for students, experts, advocates, NGO and third-sector practitioners, and anyone interested in using audiovisual media for social change. The course focuses on storytelling, documenting and investigating human-rights-related stories, ethical considerations, and practical production/distribution challenges.
The cohort is limited to 30 participants to maximise interaction and personalised feedback. The School includes networking opportunities, mentorship from facilitators, and a cinema accreditation badge for festival screenings.
Successful applicants receive a certificate of attendance. Tuition waivers are available for eligible candidates; however participants are responsible for travel, accommodation and subsistence costs. Visa applicants are advised to allow sufficient time for visa procedures.

Fee: €1,900. Includes tuition fee, lunches and coffee breaks on class days, Venice Film Festival cinema accreditation badge (valid until 12 September 2026), reading materials, and a certificate of attendance. A 10% discount applies for Global Campus alumni. Tuition waiver opportunities (fee waivers) are available subject to external funding approval. All transport, accommodation, subsistence and other additional costs must be arranged and covered by the participant.
