The Global Mentorship Initiative (GMI) connects students and recent graduates with experienced professionals for one-on-one career mentorship. Participants are matched with mentors who provide guidance on career planning, resume/CV building, interview preparation and industry-specific insights.
The programme is delivered virtually and emphasises building confidence and practical job-market skills through regular mentor meetings. Applicants follow a simple process: submit an application, respond to follow-up communications, complete an interactive online orientation, and then begin mentor sessions.
The programme requires active engagement in scheduled virtual sessions (the site references commitment to 10 one-hour sessions and also describes the programme as consisting of 12 one-hour sessions) and can be completed in as little as three months. GMI highlights global connections, personalised support, and flexible scheduling.
The programme is free for eligible students. Key eligibility requirements include proficiency in English or Spanish, access to a video-capable PC with stable internet, being 18 or older at application, and being currently enrolled and completing a degree/certificate within two years or having completed one within the last two years and still seeking a first career job (this requirement may be waived for displaced learners).
