Curious about a career in accountancy? Join Grant Thornton's four-day Ignite work experience to tackle real tasks, build professional skills, network with colleagues and get one to one careers advice - stand out and you could be fast-tracked to a school leaver programme.

Grant Thornton's Ignite work experience is a four-day, in-office programme designed to give Year 12 and Year 13 students a real insight into life at a professional services firm and a taste of a career in accountancy. During the week you’ll take part in practical work, group sessions and professional development activities, meet and network with colleagues, and finish with a careers conversation; outstanding participants may be fast-tracked to a school leaver programme or offered progression opportunities.

Ignite runs across multiple UK offices including Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Gatwick, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Oxford and Reading. Grant Thornton covers the cost of travel and lunch for participants and encourages applicants to choose an office that is a commutable distance from their current location.

In addition to the in-person Ignite programme, Grant Thornton offers Access Accountancy, a three-day remote programme aimed at students from lower socio-economic backgrounds (eligible for free school meals, attending schools above regional FSM averages, or first in family to attend university). Access Accountancy will run 16-18 February 2026.

Applications begin by registering interest online; the process includes a short online form, a brief online assessment and a written case study.
