Practise hose and ladder drills, search and rescue, water rescue and first aid at weekly sessions in local fire stations. Explore how the modern fire service works, join community events and build teamwork, with access to Duke of Edinburgh and NFCC qualifications.

Fire Cadets is a youth programme for young people who want to learn about the modern fire service while building practical, social and personal skills. Cadets take part in weekly sessions at local fire stations and get hands-on experience in a structured, supportive setting.

The programme includes drills and activities such as hose drills, ladder drills, search and rescue, water rescue, first aid, and breathing apparatus equipment. Cadets also learn about fire prevention and protection, home fire safety, service delivery, fire investigation, health and safety, navigation skills, teamwork and residential planning.

Alongside the practical training, Fire Cadets offers opportunities to attend local and national cadet events, represent the service at community events, work with cadets from other services, and build confidence, leadership and teamwork skills. Participants can also gain a qualification, with access to the Duke of Edinburgh qualification and an NFCC qualification.
