Hachette UK’s Work Experience programme is designed to open up the world of publishing to young people from a range of backgrounds. It offers an introduction to how books are published commercially and the many different decisions, roles and teams involved in bringing a title to market.
The Virtual Work Experience Programme includes 10 sessions that participants can complete in their own time. It combines interactive tasks, information and live webinars, giving learners an insight into how different functions collaborate across the publishing process and the wide variety of jobs available in the industry.
It is intended to help participants build confidence and understand what is needed if they want to explore publishing as a career.
The programme is run in partnership with Springpod and is available on-demand, making it flexible and easy to access when it suits the participant. It is aimed at students aged 15 to 18 who are curious about publishing, creativity and the business side of books.
